Young Centaur Remake by GatesuRyu Young Centaur Remake by GatesuRyu
So, following :icondeems: advice, I decided to remake one of my first deviations. The one I chose was Young Centaur [link] back from April 2005 and it was a pretty good drawing for the time by my measure. He's really more of a Faun/Centaur Hybrid...

Done in about 2.5 hours during and after Computer Art Class. I'm realizing that I should get a new version of Potatoshop.

I may work on it more, I may not. It's not really finished but it's at a good pausing point. What do you guys think? should I put in the time to finish him up and make him all pretty or is this good? Comments and Critiques plz.

I'm afraid it's as finished as it's going to be. I may redo it again later, but who knows.

It's about time you finally fixed it at least a little. =P It's been sitting there all awkward in your gallery for a verrrry long time. Anyways, I think the coloring is much to soft and blurred. Sure, it's a nice effect, but it hurts the eyes - at least mine. The water is a soft element, so can afford to be soft, but the rocks? They aren't supposed to be chocolate marshmallows, are they?

The body still looks a little too short, and too round. Make the coloring look like the body is one piece. =P Too much light on the rump!

good critique! I'm a little swamped with finals (I'm in the comp lab right now working on my CMPA website) but I'll get on that when I can :D

I like it as is :3
I guess you could add some more textures or refine the background, but honestly I like the semi-messy look.
You don't want to overwork it.

Very good piece. Very soft, great quick painting. It's good now, it's up to you whether you want to go in and fix it up some more...but it doesn't NEED it :P

thanks :D I'll probably go back when I have time and finish painting out the sketch lines.

Wow, so your improvement was....infinitely more drastic than my own XD That being said, on its own this is a great piece: great depth in the background and the muted colors make for a very serene piece overall. 2.5 hours? You are -magic-

That being said, I think his shoulders are a bit high relative to his collarbone, or perhaps his neck is a bit short or low down...but a small matter ,that.

I've gotten much faster painting messy digitally :D just think of it like painting instead of coloring and it all gets much quicker.

I agree, his shoulders need adjustment I meant for them to be up, but his neck suffered for it, I'll clear that up later.
